Fire Pink

Fire pink, also called Indian catchfly (Silene virginica)

Silene virginica blooms crimson, sometimes pink and rarely white in the spring and early summer woodlands.

Fire pink flowers are inch and a half in diameter with five notched petals. They rise on stalks eight to 32 inches high.

The fire pink is found under the forest canopy formed by hardwood trees, and in the open.
